GE Transportation's new Evolution Series Advance Power 4 next-generation freight locomotive meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's stringent Tier 4 emission standards without the use of any type of aftertreatment an GE says it will decrease emissions by more than 70 percent compared to 2005 engines. The intermediate line-haul units have an operating range of about 200 miles, and will be used exclusively in California.
